Limbitrol® is an antidepressant, antianxiety medication that helps some headaches, especially tension-type headache and coexisting migraine and tension-type headache.  At present, it is used less often by headache specialists, because of newer more effective migraine preventatives.

Uses of Limbitrol

• The combination, Limbitrol, is used to treat depression and anxiety when they occur together.
• Amitriptyline is an antidepressant used to treat depression.
  

How to Take Limbitrol

• Take this medication with food or milk if stomach upset occurs.
• Do not stop taking this medication without your doctor's approval. Nausea, headache or fatigue can occur if the drug is suddenly stopped.

What are the Side Effects of Limbitrol Medication

Side Effects of Limbitrol may include:

• Drowsiness
• dizziness
• dry mouth
• blurred vision
• constipation
• fast heartbeat
• nausea
• vomiting
• bloating
• loss of appetite
• changes in taste
• weight gain
• tiredness
• strange dreams
• shakiness

Warnings and precautions before taking Limbitrol Medication

• Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Limbitrol may cause dizziness or drowsiness. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities.
• Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking Limbitrol.

What drugs may interact with Limbitrol Tablet

This drug should not be used with the following medications because very serious (possibly fatal) interactions may occur:

• arbutamine
• sibutramine
• disopyramide
• iomeprol
• cisapride
• pimozide
• halofantrine
• lumefantrine
• MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine).

What to do if you take Overdose of Limbitrol ?

Symptoms of an amitriptyline and chlordiazepoxide overdose include vomiting, sleepiness, dizziness, confusion, an irregular heartbeat, difficulty breathing, difficulty walking and talking, an appearance of being drunk, and unconsciousness.

How to Store Limbitrol ?

Store at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Brief storage between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is permitted. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
